Surry Pumpkin Patch

I finally took Addy to a pumpkin patch this morning. We've been wanting to go for awhile, but our weekends have been so busy that we haven't had any time! It was really neat because we took the ferry from Jamestown and went across the river to Surry. She loved riding on the Ferry! The weather was perfect too. As you can see, there weren't many pumpkins left but we already had some at home. We also walked through the corn maze which took quite awhile with a toddler in tow who insisted on picking up corn and rocks. We did have a nice time, and at the end of the corn maze I bought Addy some homeade pumpkin ice cream that she devoured! She wasn't necessarily in the best picture taking mood. It was quite a challenge to get her to even look at me!

Black and Orange Day

Addy had black and orange day at school the other day in lieu of costumes. She chose the more trendy option of brown and orange, but it still worked!

Firetruck birthday party

Addy's friend, Liam, had a firetruck birthday party for his 3rd birthday! It was a cool idea! The firemen agreed to come to the house and show the kids around the truck and the ambulance. They also gave each of the kids stickers and a hat. It was fun for us adults too!

Adventures in cloth diapering

We made the switch to cloth diapers a few months ago and I must say-- I'm hooked! I wish I would have done this when Addy was a baby. Even though she's potty trained, we still put her in a diaper for naptime and bedtime. I love the convenience of these diapers. They're very absorbant, easy to clean, easy to put on. Did I mention we're no longer throwing out bags of dirty diapers? So much nicer. We haven't bought disposables since July so the savings has already paid for the cloth ones we bought. It really works out nicely too because half of the time her diapers are dry and I don't have to waste a disposable every time. What is great about these is they are one size diapers and can be used for small newborns. When we have another baby, I will just add more to the stash and we can use all of the same diapers!

Baking Cookies

This week, Addy and I had a fun time making Halloween cookies! She actually thought it was play-do until we baked it and I let her eat one. I didn't realize that just a small amount of dough could keep her entertained for almost 2 hours!

Harvest Party

Our friends hosted a harvest party this weekend complete with a chili cook-off and many fun activities for the kids. We had a lot of fun! Our only complaint was that it was FREEZING!! It's been very cold here the last few days, it feels like we've skipped fall and have gone straight to winter. Despite the weather, we still had a blast!

The festive and delicious spread. We also tasted over 15 chilis!

Papa's Airplane

We had a great visit with Mimi and Papa this weekend! They came to visit us in their new airplane. What an exciting treat! Addy enjoyed the airfield and checking out the airplane. She also loved watching Mimi and Papa take off! Jeff especially enjoyed it because he was able to fly with Papa for a few hours each day.

Addy's Prayer

This is Addy reciting her prayer at dinner. If ever we forget, she'll remind us! It's really cute. The prayer (usually) says: A-B-C-D-E-F-G, Thank you God for feeding me. Amen.
